It's amazing how disruptive a change in the routine can be even when you want to do something.</div><div>The good news is I believe I've found a way to incorporate this into my daily pattern again and hopefully take my little doodles to a wider, larger audience. As of the New Year, you'll be seeing a weekday sketch from me on the Top Cow Blog under some clever heading. I'm going to try and continue to aggregate it through this blog as well, but you may need to sign up for the Top Cow blog if I can't get that to work. </div><div><br /></div><div>I'm very excited to start drawing again!</div><div><br /></div><div>Happy Holidays and a Merry New Year to one and all! </div><div><br /></div><div>Filip</div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03597318821098816791noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18991748.post-61896065006363124102008-11-18T16:49:00.002-05:002008-11-18T16:55:49.860-05:00Daily Sketch #230<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: verdana;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: bold;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 102, 0);"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">Quantum of Solace</span></span></span></span><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;">Did anyone else find Quantum of Solace a bit disappointing? </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;">Don't get me wrong it wasn't bad per say. But compared to the revolutionary Casino Royale, it just wasn't as strong. One of my biggest problem with it was that it was a direct sequel to Casino Royale. What I mean by that is I don't think you could watch Quantum of Solace without first having watched Casino Royale. When I was a kid and first discovered James Bond, it was on ABC Saturday Night Movies. They aired out of order and I never knew or cared. I was just excited to see a new Bond movie. That was missing for me in Quantum of Solace. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;">Anyway, here's a random sketch from the honeymoon.</span><br /><div><br /></div><div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 289px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_PM_-SYD-DRE/SSM4fE8vqkI/AAAAAAAAB9c/zxrABYklDLA/s400/blogsketch230.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5270118095509236290" /></div></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03597318821098816791noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18991748.post-83301005434597603672008-11-14T20:41:00.002-05:002008-11-14T20:46:25.511-05:00Daily Sketch #229<div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: bold;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 102, 0);"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">Playing with Foreshortening</span></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;">It's unfinished, but I thought this was a fun quick sketch I did on the long plane ride home from Europe playing around with foreshortening a hand close to the viewer. </span></div><div><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_PM_-SYD-DRE/SR4pZAtAOcI/AAAAAAAAB9U/8vxoEoGMJ_o/s1600-h/blogsketch229.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 299px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_PM_-SYD-DRE/SR4pZAtAOcI/AAAAAAAAB9U/8vxoEoGMJ_o/s400/blogsketch229.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5268694123732285890" /></a><br /><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;">Been a busy, somewhat crazy week but I feel like it ended up on a positive note for both myself and D. It has ridiculously quaint, cute little houses and tiny streets that wind up and down a big hill. Mostly because I don't think anyone cares to hear my opinion on the big topics. But something really got under my skin today. Here in California there was a Proposition on the election day ballot called "Prop 8". Prop 8 basically would amend the California constitution to remove the rights of gay couples to marry. And it looks like it narrowly passed. Passed?!</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;">Honestly, I just don't get it. Why would one couples marriage hurt or invalidate yours? In an era where a black man was just elected President of the United States how can we justify "separate but equal"? </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;">The African American pastor of the largest mega-church in California was on NPR this morning saying that this was a good thing because we had to support the sanctity of marriage. His argument was that the Bible defined marriage as between a man and a woman and that's why it should be law in California. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div><ol><li><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;">Marriage predates the Bible and Christianity. It's origin is a legal contract, not a religious one. </span></li><li><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;">The Bible is a set of religious beliefs and those beliefs are not shared by everyone in the country. When you hear about a Middle Eastern country restricting the rights of women based on their religious beliefs, you think that's wrong don't you? </span></li></ol><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;">And the killer thing for me is that according to polls both African Americans and Latinos voted overwhelmingly in favor Prop 8. How can two minority groups who had their rights restricted for decades now restrict the rights of another group? </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;">Anyway, enough of my ranting. Here's a sketch I did on the train from Madrid to Malaga in Spain. </span></div></div><div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 293px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_PM_-SYD-DRE/SRMYdhCKemI/AAAAAAAABsQ/w5eA-N2lTOM/s400/blogsketch225.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5265579284688960098" /></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03597318821098816791noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18991748.post-8598478306188112442008-11-05T20:20:00.003-05:002008-11-05T20:22:37.209-05:00Daily Sketch #224<div>Quickie Sketch... and Late</div><div><br /></div><div>Slipped my mind to post anything until just now. It was the final leg of the largest worldwide running event in history and over 12,000 people showed up. It was incredibly crowded, but very cool to be part of something that large. At the end of the race, Kanye West and Common performed a free one hour concert. Kanye's stage presence and craft in his performance was impressive. He's not necessarily the best hip hop artist or musician but he definitely knows how to sell a show. I was blown away and had a fantastic time. Here's a little sketch to commemorate the memory.</span></div><div><br /></div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PM_-SYD-DRE/SL2MqhuND7I/AAAAAAAAA0w/tsFJvgNEC6s/s400/blogsketch217.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5241500203563683762" />Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03597318821098816791noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18991748.post-81718323729497599372008-08-29T15:00:00.002-04:002008-09-02T15:02:55.510-04:00Blog Sketch #126<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: verdana;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: bold;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 102, 0);"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">Back in Time</span></span></span></span><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;">I thought I'd posted this image last week, but apparently I just scanned it and never put it up on the blog. The seasons are pretty short and the game is a ton more fun than I remember from junior high. It might be because I'm over 4 feet tall now and have some coordination. Anyway, with the new team in Westwood we chose the name the Ballai Llamas and I volunteered to draw up a logo for some t-shirts we're having made up. I think it came out pretty fierce. </span></div><div><br /></div><div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PM_-SYD-DRE/SLW6qmSp7UI/AAAAAAAAA0o/cYNreUbb4bA/s400/Ballai+Llamas+sm.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5239298982511504706" /></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03597318821098816791noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18991748.post-12544935017231222882008-08-25T18:23:00.002-04:002008-08-25T18:28:09.446-04:00Blog Sketch #214<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: verdana;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: bold;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 102, 0);"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">Monkeys</span></span></span></span><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;">So this weekend was spent with my lovely future wife working on some wedding related details.
